
The course provides a framework for applying mathematical concepts to solve real-world problems. Students learn to create mathematical models to solve complex real-life problems, apply mathematical tools to solve the mathematical problem, and then interpret the solutions back in the context of the original problem. The necessary mathematical and scientific background will be developed as needed. Mathematical tools include elementary linear algebra, ordinary differential equations, linear and nonlinear dynamical systems, optimization, numerical analysis. The fields of application include physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, epidemiology, engineering, and other areas of science.

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and practical applications of statistics with an emphasis on data analysis and interpretation. The primary goal is to enable students to understand and correctly use statistical terminology, as well as to recognize the purpose and importance of data processing in scientific and applied contexts. Students will develop the ability to properly process measurement results, select appropriate statistical methods, and present data clearly through tables, graphs, and summary statistics.
